The day soon came for Shen Tianyu's and Rong Jian's fight against the Junzhu Wen Ya. She was quite curious about this Junzhu's situation but didn't really care enough to ask. Besides, the other wouldn't be stupid enough to reveal everything in public.

"I'll be taking the Junzhu, you deal with that partner of hers. With your skills, it shouldn't be much of a problem." Shen Tianyu told Rong Jian before they stepped onto the stage. Rong Jian merely nodded as he recently always did.

"Yo, if it isn't that commoner and her lover, I commend you for having the guts to face me." Wen Ya taunted as she looked down her nose at them.

"Junzhu is exaggerating. I merely wish to learn from the ever favored and talented Junzhu." Shen Tianyu half-bowed towards her, completely ignoring the other's partner.

The edges of Wen Ya's lips twitched. Before, Shen Tianyu would have thought she was annoyed. But not that she paid more attention, her lips twitched when she had said the Junzhu was "favored". As expected, the imperial families are never simple. She seemed so favored on the surface, yet, that doesn't seem to be the case in reality. Really, if they were transmigrated to her old world, with all these imperial family members, the Oscar's would really be a blood-soaked competition.

At the sound of the start signal, both women immediately leapt from their positions, clashing in the middle of the stage, wanting to get in the first strike. The surroundings of the spot on the stage where they clashed immediately formed into a crater, with them in the middle. They started clashing all over the stage at a speed so fast, the common people were only able to see their shadows and the craters they left behind. For the cultivators that could follow their speed, the two seemed to be evenly matched. One would attack and then go on the defensive and the cycle kept repeating.

In the meantime, Wen Ya's partner was running around, not trying to attack, but rather trying to dodge. In the first place, he didn't have superb fighting ability, he only got this far by sneaking around and hiding behind people. Now that the Junzhu wasn't shielding him anymore and full-on clashing with the other female opponent, he couldn't even hide, much less help.

'That's right, she's only clashing with the girl, where's the guy?!' He wondered to himself before frantically looking around. There were supposed to be two pairs in this round of the tournament, yet he only noticed the two females, where was the opponent male?! He suddenly felt a strong kick from his back that sent him rolling.

'Shit!' He cursed to himself. He specialized in hiding, how could he be so careless as to not notice someone was behind him?! He forcefully stopped his rolling body by grabbing at the stage, trying to reduce his momentum. He finally stopped when he almost dropped off the stage. He was only hanging onto the stage by clenching the edge with one of his hands. Since his fingers were still on the stage, technically, he couldn't be disqualified yet. He quickly climbed back onto the stage and faced his opponent, only to find the other looking at him with utter disgust and loathing. He also became angry, thinking that the other was looking down on his style of combat.

"Heh. Why are you looking at me like this? This is a dog eat dog world, it doesn't matter what means I use as long as I win!" He declared.

"That, I agree with." Rong Jian agreed but his expression still didn't change.

The youth's face twisted in confusion and irritation. "Then why are you looking at me like that?!"

"Because you are trash." Rong Jian replied as he slowly walked towards the other young man. The young man's features twisted again in anger. But before he could open his mouth again, Rong Jian cut in.

"This is a tag team battle, yet, instead of trying to help your partner, you're running away like a frightened dog. Rather than cheering your partner, you're running around like a lost pig. Rather than trying to find and fight the other's opponent to reduce the pressure, you only think about yourself. A disgusting lowlife indeed." For Rong Jian, even if his partner was not Shen Tianyu, he would have helped out his partner in such a battle. Because both of them would benefit from this so why not help? He really hated such people that only knew how to be selfish and nothing else. These people were the most likely to abandon anything to save themselves, their family, their fortune, their lover... It's a waste for such spineless people to attain talent in cultivation. It would be better to give that talent to someone that deserves it.

While Rong Jian was pressing the other youth, the women were battling it out on the other end of the stage. As if in tacit agreement, they no longer went past the middle of the stage to intrude on the men's battle. For Shen Tianyu, she trusted that Rong Jian could take care of the other. She didn't know what the Junzhu was thinking, though. She didn't seem anxious at all. It was true the only rule to advance was to beat the other pair, but if you lose your partner, it'll be twice as hard to beat the other pair because you would be pressured on both sides. Not everyone could have Shen Tianyu's finesse and skills.

The two women were each exchanging blows for blows, clothes becoming more ragged by the minute. The Junzhu however, was attacking the fiercest, not letting down her guard for even one second. Her former grandiose in her swordplay was long gone. Now, even the amateurs could see her cautious and deadly strikes. Though Shen Tianyu should be being pushed back, she also wasn't budging an inch. Perhaps the Junzhu was well-aware that she was not Shen Tianyu's opponent, but due to various reasons, and her reputation, she couldn't outright loose the fight. Or perhaps, she was trying to prove her own worth to herself. Every strike would be deadly if they landed with a real sword, but none of them landed. At most, they scratched her opponent.

'This Junzhu is quite good... Most people, when they were anxious, their swordplay would become more chaotic, but her... the more anxious she was, the more cautious she becomes.'
