Unfortunately, it seemed like something was holding her back. Well, she'd have to ask her directly to know herself. It would really be more convenient for her if she wasn't so stubborn about being independent.

The final four contestants walked to the center of the stage in the plaza. The last round was really just for show, but they still had to go through with it. Rong Jian was paired with the Crown Prince's former partner, and she with the Crown Prince himself. The former was because Rong Jian really hadn't shown much of his skill, therefore, it was hard to measure. The latter... was probably hoping the Crown Prince could obtain an easy victory. With his power and promising future, the Officials probably thought she would at least give him some face, and hopefully lose intentionally. Not all battles were purely about one's physical strength, ah. The four contestants went off stage after the Official made his speech to prepare.

"What does Tian'er think about this setup?" Rong Jian asked as he walked beside her. Shen Tianyu only made a disgusted face, but that was all he needed to understand her thoughts. He chuckled. "These kind of people, ah. They will always be like this, you will just have to get used to it."

Shen Tianyu rolled her eyes at him. "You think I don't know? But still it's really annoying when they do these kinds of things. Well, anyways, who told us to survive until the last round? If we didn't the one's up there would be the Junzhu Wen Ya." She then sighed. "This country will not have a bright future." She stated in a matter of fact way.

Rong Jian tilted his head at her, a smile playing on his lips. He loved listening to her voice and besides, her analysis lectures helps him glean deeper insight on matters of country and people. It was a completely beneficial win for him. Except that she might think he was stupid if this happens too often. Hm... looks like he should hold himself back more in the future in order not to be seen as a fool by his future wife. It's really too bad.

Unaware of Rong Jian's thoughts, Shen Tianyu began to explain as they got ready at one of the closed off areas where no one else was allowed nearby. "A country exists because there are people willing to follow a leader, or a group of leaders. An Emperor exists because his people support him. Someone that only knows how to make decisions, yet can't even grow crops, if he was not in a leadership position, he wouldn't live. An Emperor and his ministers live on the support of their subjects, and they make sure these subjects live a good life in reciprocation. Once an Emperor begins to stray from his people, it will mark the end of his dynasty. Because, honestly, no matter how much one doesn't want to believe, everyone is replaceable, even Emperors. Just look at the changes in dynasties, was that not a replacement of an emperor? If an emperor becomes self-absorbed and maltreats the people for his own selfish reason, discontent will grow. And no matter how one tries to squash rebellion, the people will eventually revolt. If not for them, then for their children, their grandchildren. They who are at the bottom rung in a hierarchical society know the best that once they are abandoned, no one will help them or their descendants. Once they are pushed far enough, they will come as a human wave and crush the ones in power. Because even at the cost of their own lives, they wish to make things better for those yet to be born so that they may have a brighter future. Of course, that might be harder to do when those in power are far stronger physically too, but it is not strange for them to enlist outside help also. In any case, once an emperor looses his people's trust and faith, all he can do is wait fro death." Shen Tianyu took a deep breath. Good thing she added the sentence about cultivation, she had been too absorbed analyzing the situation in the context of her previous world, looks like she still hasn't fully adjusted.

"How does that relate to this?" Rong jian asked as she took a breathe.

"In the beginning, the Official had already warned not to injure anyone, do you really think he was saying this on behalf of the other participants?" Without waiting for Rong Jian to answer, she continued on. "Of course not, it was for the royals participating. Now I, a woman, is pitted against the Crown Prince in my first round coupled with the Officials roundabout way of reminding me my position, it's obvious they want me to let him win. In such a tournament such as this, what the royals should have done, was encourage healthy competition in order to scout and recruit followers and subordinates, it is not supposed to be a chance to flaunt the royal power. Yes, there will be Sects who want to recruit those talents, but if the Kingdom was good to them, not all of them would be heartless enough to not want to pay them back. Even if they were recruited, they could pull in favors and gain connections within the Sects. In any case, it hasn't even been that long since this tradition started yet, they have already lost sight of it's purpose. If there's no connection soon, this country will be done for once a battle over the throne really takes off, if not in this generation then a future one." Rong Jian nodded to her words as they stretched. "This is all, of course, based on my own ideas and ideals, reality might be much different than what I know so what I think and say is not the be all and end all. Merely take it with a grain of salt, will you?" She reminded him, that her analyses were not foolproof and that she was only human. Her analyses were based on her own judgement and knowledge, however, that information might still be wrong or there wasn't enough to accurately think some things through.
