The two finished warming up as Shen Tianyu ended her little lecture. The other side had too, now they sat down and waited for the Official to call them up. First was, of course, Rong Jian and the Crown Prince's former partner. This former partner was called Luo Yenmu, the son of the Minister of Personnel, who was in charge of appointing officials, promotion and demotion. Though not as powerful as the Prime Ministers, the Minister of the Ministry of Personnel was a powerful position, as it can promote and demote officials. In a battle for the throne, that Minister is one of, if not the most, important person. Because once you get him to your side, you can basically guarantee that your supporters will have high positions of influence. The fact that the Crown Prince can stay the Crown Prince was most likely because he had a good relationship with the Minister of Personnel and his son.

The two young men walked to the center of the stage and did some perfunctory greetings. The Official released the signal to start and the air immediately tensed. Rong Jian, though he had a tense air surrounding him, was standing leisurely, hands behind his back, his eyes staring at Luo Yenmu. On the other hand, Luo Yenmu was in a battle stance, ready to pounce. Though one seemed more aggressive than the other, neither moved. As cultivators, their instincts were trained and the Minister's son knew the other wasn't easy to deal with, no matter how harmless he seemed.

Shen Tianyu watched the clash of stares that almost emitted visible sparks. She was sitting with her elbows on her legs and her chin in her hands. As she continued to watch this action-less battle, she raised one of her hands to stifle a yawn. She was more of an action person, these kinds of battle where it was only exciting for those involved, was boring for her. Her gaze wandered to the crowd, looking for the peddler that had started the bet during her match. Unfortunately, he still wasn't there. She clicked her tongue. 'I wanted to make more of a fortune and he runs away. What's he so scared for? It's not as if this lady will eat him alive. Am I that scary? Me, with my beautiful face?' She joked to herself. She will admit, her current body's face could be considered beautiful, unfortunately, the body... She let out a sigh before turning her gaze back to the stage, where the men were still having a staring contest.

Luo Yenmu moved first, but only by a millisecond or so. Other people would have seen them both moving at the same time. Shen Tianyu was used to seeing high speed fights by now. Luo Yenmu raised his sword, intending to strike down as hard as he could. Rong Jian rushed at him, his sword pointed down. When he was close enough, Rong Jian swept his sword up diagonal to Luo Yenmu's right. The latter hurriedly retracted his sword to block the strike, however, it still knocked him back a zhang(1) or two. Looking at the skid marks, Shen Tianyu was worried the boy had burned off the soles of his shoes trying to stop. The two young men stood still and started another staring contest. Others might not know, but this one exchange had, in fact, already decided the winner. Maybe the Official couldn't tell or he wanted to keep the suspense, but he didn't call fro a stop to the duel.

Luo Yenmu gripped his wooden sword tighter and inched the tip of his foot to the right. Rong Jian still didn't move. Luo Yenmu launched himself to the right and circled to Rong Jian's back for a sneak attack at a breakneck speed. Unfortunately, Rong Jian was not a Foundation Establishment cultivator. He turned to the side and blocked the oncoming strike before he kicked the boy who rolled on the ground fro a bit before stopping again. This time, Rong Jian rushed at the boy and barraged him with attacks. All the Minister's son could do was block, and even then, he was steadily being pushed back.

'Domineering! Truly befitting of my suitor!' Shen Tianyu praised in her mind. Of course, she would never tell him this out loud. Her eyes had brightened but her posture was still the same bored posture.

Finally, Rong jian pushed Luo Yenmu off the stage. The fight had barely lasted half an incense stick but the intensity was higher than any of the other fights. As expected of those that could make it to the final round! The Official rose and called an end to the duel, in addition, announcing the end of the battles for today. The next battle would take place tomorrow. The placings round, which is the third round, would take place over 8 days. Each contestant would fight the other contestants to determine their placing. However, there was only one fight per day. Looking at Luo Yenmu, that was probably a good idea. His clothes were a complete mess and his wooden sword was in pieces, though he himself had not suffered any physical injury, his pride and self-confidence might have suffered a hit.

Everyone slowly left the vicinity of the plaza. Luo Yenmu, this sensible boy, bowed to his opponent and went to say goodbye to the Crown Prince before he actually left. The crown Prince also left soon after. After the Official left, Shen Tianyu went up to Rong Jian, who was descending the stage, clapping her hands when she was within earshot. "Good fight, good fight! As expected of you!"

Rong Jian smiled as he walked up to her. He then lightly pinched her cheek. As expected, it was soft as silk, he will take this as his reward for a job well done today. "What are you saying? Did you think I didn't notice you yawning?" Rong Jian inquired as he let go.

As if not noticing the pinch, Shen Tianyu scratched her cheek. "Eheh... you noticed?"

"Of course. I am always looking at you." He replied earnestly.
