Wen Ya was still standing upright, though she looked close to keeling over. The Master of Ceremonies hurriedly got up on the stage and faced the crowds.

"The winner of this round is Jing Qie's Junzhu, Wen Ya!" the announcement echoed throughout the stadium and the physicians once again flooded the stage. Wen Ya collapsed right as they rushed over. Both contestants were carried off the stage in stretchers since it was not advisable for them to move.

The next match was Rong Jian against Ke Qingyan, Shen Tianyu's first opponent. Right before he stepped on the stag,e Shen Tianyu came up to Rong Jian.

"Is Tian'er here to wish me good luck?" He asked first.

"No. I'm sure you'll win. I'm just here to tell you to go easy on the boy." She responded with a straight face.

"Wifey has taken a liking to him?" He frowned and pinched his brows together.

"Yes. But not in the way you think. He's rare and talented. I want him to join us." She crossed her arms and sighed in exasperation.

Rong Jian's expression smoothed out. "Okay. I'll try to end things quick and smooth."

Shen Tianyu quirked her eyebrow at him, fully knowing he still hasn't promised her and that he was just trying to circumvent it.

Rong Jian's shoulders drooped when he realized his wifey wasn't going to buy his unsure promise but it also made him love her more. She was the first one not to give in to such uncertain words, everyone else just let it be because of his position or out of exasperation, even his siblings. "Fine. I'll make sure not to hurt him, as little as is permissible anyways..." he mumbled, pouting.

Shen Tianyu unfolded her arms and patted his shoulder. "Okay. If you pass my criteria, I'll give you a little surprise when we get back to the house." Lavender Palace wasn't a simple house but they both knew what it meant so no need to say more than needed.

At this, Rong Jian perked up like a dog suddenly thrown a treat and nodded some more. "Okay, okay! I'll make sure to hold back!"

Shen Tianyu could almost see the wagging tail. 'So cute...' She was holding back her urge to laugh and, due to her training, was able to do so after some difficulty. She sent him off with some perfunctory words. When he turned his back, she finally let it go, holding her stomach laughing and covering her mouth with her hand. Only when both the contestants were on the stage did she reing herself back in and went back to her seat.

Ke Qingyan's eyes flitted between the smiling fool, Rong Jian, and the laughing Shen Tianyu but didn't comment. At the end of the start signal, Ke Qingyan immediately strummed his guqin. He knew the opponent was much more powerful than him, since the decision on placings of the members was an open secret. Even if Shen Tianyu was misplaced, the one ranked first definitely couldn't loose to anyone else on the team.

Multiple almost invisible blades flew towards Rong Jian. But his eyesight was keen enough to note their places and he swung his spear, cutting them all off at once. Ke Qingyan jerked back in surprise gritted his teeth. This opponent was indeed more difficult to deal with. He leapt back to gain some distance but Rong Jian wouldn't let him, also running forward and even closing the distance a little. Somewhat panicked, Ke Qingya abruptly strummed his instrument a few times to deter Rong Jian to no avail. They all shattered with one strike just like before. If one looked closely, the distance between the two were actually closing a little faster than before. Rong Jian was using the momentum from his swings to propel a little more forward.

The audience, and even the royalty present gasped at his domineering show of strength. Some were even beginning to applaud but were quickly silenced by their neighbors lest they miss something because of the noise. Everyone was staring at the figures in the arena but really only focusing on one. It was already plenty obvious who would win.

Ke Qingyan was still furiously strumming his guqin. Though the sounds were beautiful, they lacked any coherence, more like a disarray of notes rather than a song. Rong Jian lunged forward with his spear outstretched, closing that last bit of distance that acted as a buffer and shield for Ke Qingyan. Everyone let out an audible collective gasp. The physicians gripped their medical boxes tighter, scared of more work. Not to mention ti was aimed at the throat, there wasn't anyone present that could mend a throat that was stabbed through, nor revive the beheaded dead. If the royalties got angry, they would be on the front lines of receiving their anger.

The spear touched the skin on Ke Qingyan's throat and stopped, one bead of blood dropping from the sharp tip and dripping down his throat. "My win." Rong Jian spoke into the silence.

"Yes, yes! The winner of this encounter is another contestant from Jing Qie, Rong Jian!" The Master of Ceremonies ended the match and Rong Jian withdrew his spear, putting it down on the ground vertically. The physicians let out a collective breath of relief and released their tight grips on their medical boxes.

"My wife likes your potential so I let you off easy. Remember that." Rong Jian stared directly into the other's eyes as he said it. He then turned around and went back to his seat, but didn't sit down. His was the last match of the day so they were leaving soon. Might as well just keep standing for a bit longer than to sit and get up before the seat even got warm.

The Master of Ceremonies got onto the vacated stage and announced the end of matches for the day, dismissing everyone. The physicians hurried back to the medical wing of the Imperial Palace to tend to the injured.
