"Mingya sent two royalties and Zhandi sent one person both by their Emperors." Rong Jian responded to her. "One is a Gongzhu(1) beloved by her parents and the other is her future fuma, her fiancee from a lower-class family. Ming Yunyue is very aware of her delicate status and will act humble in the school but not to the point of it seeming disgraceful for a royal. Though she is from a small country, her cultivation is above average. Though her father has a harem, her mother's position as the Empress has never swayed. They also have a special marriage themselves. The other women either don't care about the inheritance or just doesn't fight after seeing them. Well, most of them were political marriages he couldn't refuse and as long as the women didn't touch the love of his life, he let them do whatever, even having affairs behind his back. Nian Yingge's father was a commoner who managed to become an official but doesn't have a high enough rank for a Gongzhu to marry into the family so he's marrying into the royal family instead, as the former's fuma(2). The two have affections for each other, which was why their Emperor agreed to let them be engaged. There were some voices of protest but they were quickly reasoned away. His cultivation is a little lower than Gongzhu Yunyue but not by much. As for the one from Zhandi..." At the mere mention of the person, Rong Jian's face twisted and he spit out a 'tsk'.
"What's wrong with that one? It's not often I see you show such dislike for someone." Shen Tianyu asked as her eyes swung briefly to his face before staring back at the lights of the glass lamp. 'Though we haven't known each other for long,' she doesn't add.
"She's a pain." He spat before he continued to introduce the person anyways. Because his wife was more important than his hatred for that person. He took in a breathe and tried to talk about her in the most factual tone he could. "A Junzhu from Zhandi called Zheng Xiu. Arrogant and likes to boss around those with a lower social status than her. Deadset on marrying one of us, my brothers and I."
"Well, she's not a complete fool at least. Zhandi is a complete mess right now, so even if it's in a harem, she'd have a better life in Rikui than Zhandi." Despite her companion's curt introduction, this was the one she decided to comment on.
"She doesn't understand her own position. Even if she's royalty now, Zhandi is a mess and might even become a subordinate state to another country, yet she orders people from our country, the second most powerful one, like she owns the damn place. Her cultivation isn't even that high, just enough to pass the exam. Who does she think she is? There are even common children with a higher talent in cultivation." Rong Jian ground his teeth as he complained.
Shen Tianyu just laughed at seeing his reaction. "Alright, alright, let's not talk about her. Rather, I'm more interested in the sibling pair you first mentioned. Lun Chang and Lun Aoman was it?"
"What about them?" Rong Jian visibly brightened up at not having to talk about someone he hated. Not to mention the new subjects were people that he had a somewhat high opinion about.

"You said the brother was arrogant, how bad is he?"
"Well... he's certainly not as bad as that other woman. He more or less flaunts his status as the son of a rich merchant but he tries to not offend big name figures like other royalties and nobility."
"I see... I understand now." She covered her mouth with her hand, stifling a yawn. "It seems it's quite late already, let's go to sleep. You go back to your courtyard."
"I can't sleep here?" Rong Jian asked with sad eyes.
"No. Your residence is so big, why would you need to sleep here? Hurry up and go already." Shen Tianyu replied as she got up from her seat and headed towards the glass lamp.
"Alright, I'll go back... after I help you clean up." He also got up from his seat and followed her.
"No need to help me here, I can handle this just fine. You only need to bring the tray of tea back to where it belongs." She answered as she lifted the lid with her hands.
"Okay..." He replied in a dejected voice as he put their cups and the teapot back onto the tray. Then, he lifted it up and walked outside. "Goodnight, Wifey. Sweet dreams."
"Mm. You too." She answered as she tucked the night pearl back into her Cosmo bag and went behind the screen to change. The door closed with a wooden clack as she took off her casual robe and wore the night clothes the maids had already prepared for her and collapsed onto the bed.
...
The day of the entrance exam for the Chengyuan school quickly arrived. Before the gates were a continuous flock of carriages decorated in various designs. Some were completely plain, signifying they did not belong to one of the students but were perhaps driven by people trying to do some business. In addition, many were standing in front of the gates, creating a large crowd. They were there to send their relatives off to the entrance exam and to give them some last encouraging words. One carriage in particular caught the eyes of the crowd, who began gossiping, raising the noise volume higher and irritating the guards at the door even more. They looked over to see who was making such a scene when they caught sight of the dragon painted on the carriage. A seven-clawed dragon signifies the Emperor, a six-clawed dragon signifies the crown Prince, and a five-clawed dragon represented a Qinwangye. And in this country, there are only three with the title of Qinwangye. The irritation immediately disappeared from the guards' faces and they even stood up straighter.
