Shen Tianyu walked towards the pillar she saw in the distance. Since Senior Sister Bai had said one could see the next assessment station from the previous one, then the assessment station she sees should be the next one.

'Is that the assessment for the Fist Department?' She asked herself as she regained her breathing walking forward. The next applicant had already started his assessment at the Sword Department's Sword Array behind her.

'Well, I think the result of the Sword Department's assessment wasn't bd for someone that had just broken through to Golden Core Level Early Stage.' She cheered herself up with that thought. She had directly broken through to Golden Core level in the Forest of Death and thankfully, she had someone to guard her so she wouldn't be attacked during it. She had only just stabilized her spiritual when she was told to take this exam so she thought to use it to test how far her own abilities could take her. 'But as expected, the advantages grow smaller as one advances. To think I used to be able to beat someone a whole level above me when I was still only at Foundation Establishment... Well. Although the stages remain the same as one advances in level, the gap between the stages grow exponentially wider. Oh well, no time to be thinking about this, I still need to finish this test.'

...

In a certain room on the school grounds, a group of elders were sitting, surrounding a translucent crystal orb. However, what was shown on the orb was not just a translucent color, it was also emitting some mist. Within the mist were different scenes from both divisions of the entrance exam, almost like a security camera computer. This was what was known as a Transmission Orb.

It's functions were similar to the Jade Slips but it had the added feature of real-time streaming, allowing for meetings from across many li. It was also exceptionally rare, much more so than the Jade Slips, so few had them. And the ones that had them, would not send them away like people do with Jade Slips, for fear of it being stolen on the road or by the courier. The way these worked was that it would recognize one owner, usually a cultivator, and the owner could imprint his spiritual power on an object. When activated, the imprint on the object would act as a livestream camera and send what was happening to the orb via some type of innate homing mechanism. Of course, it had it's limitations. The further the cultivator was watching from, the more spiritual power was needed to transmit the feed, the same could be said about the number of places he or she wanted to see on display. The more places the person wanted to oversee, the more spiritual power was needed.

"That girl just now wasn't bad." One of the elders surrounding the Transmission orb praised. It was an elderly woman with a wise disposition and sharp eyes.

"Which one are you talking about?" Another woman with a cool aura asked.

"The girl that just passed the Old Chen's assessment." The previous woman replied.

"Wahahaha! Indeed, that young lady is exceptional, just like the ones that managed to get to the fifth round! I would very much like to have her in my department!" An man laughed out loud. Despite his age, he was as boisterous as any teen.

"Hmph, we don't know which department she'll pick yet. Let's wait and see." A man with a wicked-looking face spoke.

And the crowd fell silent again as everyone watched the numerous different assessments but all the elders kept the girl at the back of their minds. Even if sword fighting was her only skill, with her adaptability, she could easily learn other things to support her or her allies in the future. Even if she won't be exceptionally skilled in them.

...

She arrived in front of the large stone pillar that she was able to see even from a distance. And up close, it was even more impressively huge.Even if she craned her neck, the top of the illar was still in the clouds, unseen to her. She looked around at the students remaining there. It was noticeably less than the amount of people that had left the first assessment so some of them should already be taking the third assessment.

"Oh, young lady. You passed." Ningwu Liushan came up to her and spoke. In fact, he and his friend, wasn't significantly ahead of her so it wasn't a surprise to see that they were there still.

Shen Tianyu stepped back and bowed. "Young master Ningwu." And she straightened herself again. Ningwu Liushan gave a forward dip of his body in a return greeting. "That's right. I didn't give young Mastr my name, did I? How foolish of me, I always forget the important things." She realized, smacking her head lightly.

"That is quite alright. very one makes mistakes." He smiled at her with his hands behind his back.

"This one is named Tianyu, surname Shen. It's an honor to meet Young Master Ningwu."

"Miss Shen... It seems I have not seen you around."

"Yes. I am from abroad so it's only natural Young Master has not heard of me." She replied.

Ningwu Liushan pointed to his silent friend standing a little distance from them. "By the way, my friend over there whom you've met before is Bai  Longtian. I'm sorry for his rudeness earlier but he's... how should I say this... shy around girls, I suppose. So he probably didn't know what to do when you suddenly came up and talked to him."

"Ah, is that so? I thought I accidentally did something he didn't like so he ignored me."

Ningwu Liushan gave a little laugh. "Let's just say... that's how he usually deals with women."

"But it's good that Young Master Bai has a good friend like you, Young Master Ningwu." Shen Tianyu and Ningwu Liushan continued chatting. The "friend" Bai Longtian was just standing behind the latter the entire time, not looking back at them but at the large pillar and the officer next to it.

The stone pillar was plain except for the grooves. There wasn't anything hanging in front of it nor stuck on it. Instead, the applicants were directly punching the pillar. Strangely, after a dent was formed from a person's punch, the pillar would slowly regenerate itself and the next person would be called over.

"So, what's this test about?" Shen Tianyu asked Ningwu Liushan in the middle of their conversation. Their turn was quickly approaching and she needed to know what the assessment was to formulate a plan.

"Apparently, it's to test our physical strength. Spiritual power won't work on the stone so one must punch the pillar with their physical strength to show how strong their strength is and how well they can control it." He articulated without missing a beat.

"So the, does it nullify spiritual power? Or absorb it? Does it only affect spiritual power outside the body?" She bombarded him with more questions about the stone pillar.

"This... I'm afraid I don't know. After the first applicant's spiritual power failed, no one bothered using it anymore for fear of failure so no one can confirm your questions. And I already asked the officer one of those questions but he just responded with 'This is classified information. You will know once you enter our department's inner disciple circle.'" He gave her a wry smile.

She raised her hand to her mouth in surprise and guilt. "I'm so sorry. I was just curious when you said spiritual power doesn't work on it so I asked you a bunch of troublesome questions. I'm always like that, hope Young Master Ningwu won't blame me."

"Not at all. I'm quite curious about this as well. Perhaps I might take classes in the Fist Department regardless if I pass just to see if I can fish some information from the disciples." Ningwu Liushan aged it off.

The next applicant to be called up was the Young Master's friend, Bai Longtian. Naturally, Ningwu Liushan would be next so the two ended their conversation there and Liushan followed his friend to silently cheer him on and to get ready. Shen Tianyu still had a few people ahead of her so she went to the side and started staring at the stone pillar, trying to come up with a way to clear the assessment. As a fighter who prioritized speed and agility, physical strength was not her strong point. She usually makes up for it with her spiritual power. Not to mention there was internal damage to her body from when she was younger. Though she was mostly healed now, thanks to her family a Yaodu, there were still minor injuries she was adjusting. If she over exert herself, things might take a turn for the worse, and in the worst case scenario, the older big internal injuries might open up again.A different "Bai" from Yingliu. It's the fourth intonation that means "bow". Yingliu's surname means "white"
