On the same day, she took half a day off to surprise Mo Shaoyun at his office.
Due to Jane's busy schedule, they planned to celebrate their 5th anniversary during the upcoming weekend.
However, unknown to him, Jane had secretly exchanged her shifts at the hospital with one of her colleagues.
When she arrived at the building, she greeted the receptionists as she signed her name in the logbook.
Since everyone knew that she was the 16th floor Vice President Shaoyun's girlfriend, they greeted her warmly.
When one of the receptionist at the ground floor asked if she should call Mo Shaoyun, Jane placed a finger on her lips and whispered,
"It's our anniversary. I want to give him a surprise."
The receptionist giggled and gave her a thumbs up as she scanned her access card for Jane to take the lift up until 16th floor.
However, when she arrived at the floor, the first thing she saw was Mo Shaoyun talking to a woman.
He had a hand on the small of the woman's back as he leaned down to listen to her.
She watched as they laughed at their own little jokes and as the woman placed her hand in his.
The woman glanced at Mo Shaoyun shyly as he smiled at her half-heartedly.
Jane found it hard to believe her eyes. Not ready to face the truth, the moment she heard the lift's door opening, she turned around to leave.
Mo Shaoyun who had also heard the sound of the lift carelessly glanced over. He was shocked to see Jane about to leave.
He immediately released the woman's hand. Knowing that Jane probably saw him, he did not know what to do or say to her.
Jane was about to enter the lift when someone walked out. Looking up, it was Mo Shaoyun's mother.
Mrs. Mo had arrived to have lunch with her son.
When she saw Jane, her expression soured.
She looked at Jane with the same eyes that she had been looking at her since they first met.
Eyes that were filled with nothing but disdain and dislike.
"What are you doing here?" asked Mrs. Mo rudely.

Embarrassed at being there, especially after what she had just saw, Jane hid the flowers that she bought behind her as she stammered,

"Can't you speak up? How rude! This is why I don't like Shaoyun hanging out with the likes of you and that uncouth friend of yours!"
Hearing Mrs.Mo badmouth her friend, Jane found herself to be a little braver as she defended her best friend , "Kai Xin's not uncouth!"
Angered at being talked back, Mrs. Mo raised her hand. However, before she can do anything, Mo Shaoyun caught her hand.
With a tense voice, he gritted, "Don't you dare, mother."
Mrs.Mo flung her son's hand away and scolded him, "Shaoyun, you are already engaged to Ha Lin. Why are you still protecting this woman? I thought you broke up with her?"
"Engaged?" thought Jane as her eyes went wide with shock. She knew then that the beautiful woman standing behind Mo Shaoyun was 'Ha Lin'.
"Mother!" yelled Mo Shaoyun angrily.
He grabbed Jane's hand and pulled her into the lift with him.
His mother was so startled by his shout that she did not notice that the two were already gone.
Jane looked at Mo Shaoyun with a sad face as she asked, "Shaoyun... Shaoyun... Your mother is lying right? What is this thing about your engagement? Who is that woman?"
"Jane..."
He touched her cheek gently with the back of his hand before saying, "Jane, I'm sorry I lied to you."
Dropping the bouquet of flowers on the floor, she grabbed Mo Shaoyun's shirt as she asked with a sorrowful smile,
"This is a joke right? Please tell me this is a joke..."
As tears rolled down her cheeks, she still smiled as she said, "It's not funny, Shaoyun. I don't want to play this game...Can you please stop?"
Mo Shaoyun pulled her into a hug. He did not want her to find out in this way. He had wanted to slowly break it to her.

Watching the back of Jane who was getting further and further away from him, he reached out, hoping he could salvage their relationship.
However, no sound came out of him. Instead, everything was getting dizzier by the second.
"Young Master Mo!" yelled the receptionist when she saw Mo Shaoyun fainted.
