The day after the meeting with Luo Yin, Kai Xin was sleeping when she heard someone unlocking the door. Sitting up, it took her a moment before her eyes adjusted to the lack of lighting in the room. Relying on the brightness of the moon, she squinted her eyes at the figure that was walking into the bedroom.

"DX?"

She called out, unsure whether she was seeing wrong.

He switched on the light and adjusted it to dim so that it would not hurt her eyes. After that, he placed his bags aside before climbing onto the bed with her.

"My little minx…" said DX as he cupped her face. Before she could say anything else, he kissed her in the lips. One of his hand was placed on her belly as if he was greeting the baby inside.

"You are back early! I thought you'd only be back at the end of the week!"

"Well, I heard that my woman got into a fight. Obviously, I have to come back immediately…"

She winced, "I'm sorry…"

He flicked her forehead and scolded her softly, "If you are sorry, you shouldn't have done that. Wait for the guards or Han Ye to arrive. There would always be someone nearby."

"I-I didn't think thoroughly…When I saw him there, I just want to fight back. I want to prove to him and to myself that I'm no longer the weakling from 12 years ago."

He took her wrist where the bruise was still visible and a trace of anger appeared in his eyes as he gritted, "I'll make him pay…"

Kai Xin patted the back of his hand and when he looked up at her, she said softly, "I didn't cry…"

"What?"

"I thought that when you are not here, I'd be unable to face them myself...I was a little scared but I didn't run or cry."

As he massaged her bruised wrist, he said, "Kara...It's not me that give you the bravery. You've always been brave but you were too scarred to realize it. All I did was to give you a shoulder to lean on when you needed to rest."

She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and leaned her forehead against his chest as she murmured, "Do you know how much I've missed you?"

"En."

Suddenly, she winced and held onto her belly.

"What's wrong?" asked DX in concern when he saw her pained expression.

She smiled and shook her head, "She's getting really active lately. I think she can't wait to come out and greet everyone."

Breathing out a sigh of relief, DX caressed her belly and said, "My little daughter...Don't be mean to your mother, alright? She has been through enough pain. Don't kick her too hard."

DX felt a nudge against his palm as if the baby was agreeing to his request. He chuckled and kissed Kai Xin's belly before kissing her on the lips. He could not wait until the baby safely arrived. He wanted to see her resting comfortably in one of his arms while her mother rested in his other arm.

"She's going to be quite a handful when she comes out," murmured Kai Xin before she yawned loudly.

They laid down on the bed and before long, he fell asleep before her. He had a long flight and he spent most of the time working instead of resting. Having seen with his own eyes that she was safe and sound, he could finally relax.

With her head rested in the crook of his arm, she whispered, "I love you, husband…"

They talked about having a wedding ceremony previously but Kai Xin did not want to have one now as her belly would definitely show when she was wearing the wedding dress. In the end, they decided to have the wedding ceremony after the arrival of the baby.

After all, the most important thing was that they were in love and that they were together.
