'Do you think it will work?' Lily asked as I sat atop a large tree with dense foliage.

'I don't see why it should not.' I said as I played with a leaf in my hands. 'The plan was rather simple.'

'All plans are generally rather simple.' Lily said with a scoff. 'You do realize that there are hundreds of ways that this could go wrong. Right?'

'Yeah. I do realize that.' I said and looked at the hundreds of mutant beasts in the distance with a bit of apprehension. Mutant beasts always seemed more dangerous to me because of their ability to see at night and their other enhanced senses.

'I had thought that these beasts would fight against one another and then go their own ways.' I said 'But from the looks of it, Jasvinder was right in assuming that the 3rd tier mutant beast will subdue the weaker mutant beasts.'

'He seems to understand these beasts like the back of his hand.' Lily said.

'That he does.' I said 'If only he was not so sullen all the time.'

'You are jealous of his abilities.' She stated.

'A bit. His abilities are enviable. I won't deny that.' I said with a tone of finality that brook no further arguments.

'Do you think the plan will be successful?' she asked.

'I'll make sure it does.' I said and watched as the sun set down and the first loud whistle was heard in the distance.

A short while later, I could see the movements in the distance. I narrowed my eyes and the silhouette of multiple abnormals entered my vision. I waited patiently for a few moments before another whistle was heard from the opposite direction.

I glanced back and realized that the mutant beasts have come into range as well.

'This should be enough.' I thought and blew the whistle as loudly as I could.

Suddenly, there was an eerie silence in the whole forest as if someone had suddenly put earphones and all outside sounds ceased to exist. That silence lasted only a few seconds… and then all hell broke loose.

Hundreds of abnormals and mutant beasts from both sides emerged out of the foliage in a crazed fashion and despite being hidden in a proper manner, I felt a bit of panic rise in my heart and had to check my hiding position once more.

'You're safe.' Lily's soothing voice rang in my ear and I calmed my mind a bit before blowing the whistle one last time.

A few of the mutant beasts and abnormals stopped suddenly and looked in my general direction and I felt the heart leap out of my throat but then the two group saw each other and then with a mighty screech and howl, both sides clashed.

A fierce battle between the two sides ensued and I watched with horror and a bit of fascination as a giant hound emerged from the behind the trees and tore a couple of abnormals in pieces within moments.

'That must be the 3rd tier mutant beast that Jasvinder talked about.' Lily muttered and I wondered if I would be able to defeat it on my own and came to a simple conclusion.

'It would be hard for me to defeat it.' I paused and then added 'Very hard.'

'But it's not like you have to face it on your own.' Lily said and two giant 3rd tier abnormals emerged from the other group and tore into the lower tiered mutant beasts.

I watched the bloody battle me and realized that due to the darkness, the mutant beasts had a higher hand in the battle against the abnormals. Even without the darkness I was sure that the mutant beasts would prove more powerful individually than their counter parts.

But the abnormals were larger in numbers and while the mutant beasts had only 1 3rd tier beast, the abnormals had 2 on their side.

As the battle progressed and the forest ground was tinged with red the lower tiered beasts and abnormals were either slaughtered or ran away in fear.

After a few moments the 3rd tier hound set it's eyes on one of the 3rd tier abnormal and an even fearsome battle ensued in the forest ground the likes of which I had never seen before.

Both parties clawed and bit at each other and fought ferociously with abandon and any poor soul that came in between their fight was torn into pieces instantly.

Their fight continued for a few minutes and I was sure that the mutant beast would win when the second 3rd tier abnormal joined in and the fight was reversed.

The fight continued for few more minutes before I suddenly saw a light coming from the distance.

I narrowed my eyes and realized that it was Jasvinder who was giving me his sign to jump in the battle.

Since I was the strongest one in the group it was only proper that I be the one who will join the battle but that thought did not give me much piece.

'Regardless. What needs to be done needs to be done.' I thought and focused back on the fight.

By this time most of the 1st tier abnormals and mutant beasts were either dead or incapacitated and only a few dozen 2nd tier beasts and abnormals were fighting against each other.

I looked at the fight between the giants and realized that the two 3rd tier abnormals had gained the upper hand but both sides were grievously injured by this point.

'It seems that it's finally my chance now.' I thought in my mind as I took a deep breath.

'Good luck Ashok. I know you can do it.' I heard Lily's words before I finally jumped down in between the fight of three 3rd tier creatures.
