Unrefined monster cores would easily sell for over a thousand credits from direct buyers. These buyers could either be resellers or refiners themselves. Resellers would often be people from an association, may it be staff or exterminators themselves.

They purchase unrefined monster cores for, obviously, reselling purposes.

Refiners on the other hand, often pay a lot more for these cores, but they do not purchase cores weaker than C-grade. Unrefined cores that are D and E-grade are only good for those people that are absolutely in need of a short-term power boost.

Monster Cores are basically mana-filled spheres. They contain the energy of slain beasts from the Otherworld. Those beasts that died from natural causes, however, do not leave monster cores, as they have exhausted their mana— their life force.

D and E-grade cores belonging to weak beasts and creatures are often used by beginners to solve mana issues, ultimately helping their sustainability in battle. C-grade cores and higher are used for practical purposes such as energy to power households, factories, buildings, and rarely; weapons.

D and E-grade cores could be used for the same purposes too, however, their efficiency is a lot lower compared to higher grade cores. They are often drained after a single use, and refiners wouldn't spare such effort for just a one-time-use object.

Xenith was extremely lucky to have gotten two B-grade cores. If he could find a refiner willing to purchase both cores, he could easily get 4000-5000 credits in one go. As a twenty-year-old office worker, however, Xenith did not have many connections.

"Little one, let's go to the association," Xenith muttered, appearing right behind him was the Roc hatchling that had never left his side since yesterday. People have already assumed that Xenith was a New Human because of the presence of the Roc hatchling.

However, their guess of him being a Tamer was way off. He was nothing but a 0-star New Human which happened to encounter a persistent hatchling. Xenith did not mind the hatchling tagging along though.

Shen City had countless different people passing by and going through the city that it had become the norm to see tamers once in a while. Xenith could just excuse himself as one. The Roc hatchling wasn't doing anything dangerous that warrants his immediate action.

As for how he could feed the hatchling, it certainly wasn't a problem. Since yesterday evening, it had eaten nothing but random pebbles across the road. It seemed satisfied with that alone.

The important thing right now was to register and sell off the cores.

---

Association of Grand Exterminators, Shen City branch.

After a 10-minute ride, Xenith finally reached his destination. The Association of Grand Exterminators is the go-to organization when it comes to New Humans wanting to receive low to mid-tier quests that involve dealing with rifts.

Fixing his fuzzy brown hair to make him look a bit more presentable, Xenith made his way towards the building's entrance. The hatchling Roc obediently followed after. "Hopefully, I could also find a refiner looking for monster cores," Xenith muttered.

It would not be too much of a surprise if a refiner happens to be idly staying inside the building. Mid-tier quests often involve stronger rift beasts and creatures, so it is not shocking for exterminators to return with a bounty of high-grade cores.

Outside;

The building's exterior in itself wasn't eye-catching— It only had plain white paint, although glossy, its monochromatic feel wasn't the least bit attractive. The design wasn't something special either. It had a standard structure which, ultimately, serves its purpose.

However, the insides were a bit 'different'. The interior was plain, a lot similar to the exterior; but the people inside made things a lot less crude and boring.

Exterminators equipped with lavish gears were abounding. A few Adventurers, which Xenith could tell apart just by looking at how they're equipment looked a lot different; made to last for long travels, were also staying within the building.

Some quests were best suited for traveling New Humans rather than fighters. The association, albeit called "Association of Grand Exterminators", gives out quests without discrimination towards Adventurers, Workers, and Tamers, as well—

As long as they could do them with ease, that is, the association would not be picky.

"Oi, Lady Ciel, any B-class quest available? Do not worry, we have the numbers."

"Hahaha, 10 1-star Exterminators daring to do a B-class quest? What are you thinking Earl? Did you not have your coffee today? You seem to not be thinking straight, hahaha."

"Lady Diane, do you have any quests for us adventurers? Were heading outside, towards the southeast settlement. Maybe a gathering quest perhaps?"

"I don't think the three of you would be strong enough to be doing this quest, I am sorry."

All the commotion inside made Xenith's blood boil in excitement.

It would seem like the path of an Exterminator was a lot better than just being an office worker. It certainly was a lot less boring, that was for sure. The building was bustling with activity that Xenith was unsure where to start.

The place was big and wide, so it wasn't really cramped up even with the sheer number of people inside. "Ah… this feels exciting. But, I can't take part in any of these just yet. I have to register first."

The building was divided into four different floors. For convenience, the first floor was obviously made for people accepting quests. Following it, the second floor was made for people issuing quests. They separated these two to make things more organized.

The third floor is for New Human registration and rank-testing. The fourth floor is for the staff and other people working for the association to stay and relax, basically, a lounge. The floor also serves as a meeting room for high ranking Exterminators.

"Let's head to the third floor, follow closely, little one," Xenith instructed the hatchling. Even though he was unsure if the Roc hatchling was able to understand him, he still did so just in case. The little beast does seem to have a higher degree of intelligence, considering its superior breed.

Xenith walking past the entire first floor stood out too much like a sore thumb.

It could have been his thin and youthful appearance— devoid of any harshness from the world of exterminating. Or it could have been his plain looking clothes— something that did not scream "I am an Exterminator and not an office worker".

Even the receptionists were shocked to see a normal joe walk in.

'Eh? Is something wrong with my face? Do I have dirt somewhere?' Xenith could not help but notice the bewildered gazes thrown at him. He was pretty sure that he did nothing to warrant such attention.

Instinctively, he hurried his steps toward the staircase. He could've used the building's elevator, but he felt a bit uncomfortable staying longer on the first floor waiting for the shaft to go down. It was better if he had done registering first before anything else.

"I have not seen that guy before, you know her, Diane?" Ciel, one of their receptionist on the first floor, inquired Diane, her coworker.

"Do I look like someone who knows everyone that walks in here?" Diane, busy with all the requests, scoffed at the question. "Focus on your work young lady." As the senior, it was Diane's responsibility to take care of rookies such as Ciel.

"Tss… I was just asking." Ciel pouted in disappointment, "I find naive guys really cute~"

"… So that's why you're curious. You need some help, Ciel. You still have your youth ahead of you! You're barely 23, there's no need to hurry." Diane sighed, earnestly looking at Ciel with those hazel-brown eyes of a middle-aged woman.

"Pfft— Look who's reminding me? Grandma, you should say the opposite to yourself. You're not getting any younger, yet you still don't have someone special. Pick up the pace, will you?" Ciel mockingly replied.

"Grandma!-?- You little brat. Just you wait, I'll have Director John as lover soon— or-or— the vice president of the Xin Corporation— Ah… so dreamy… He called in for a request yesterday when I was at assigned on the 2nd floor. See? Destiny is saying otherwise!" Diane shakingly retorted.

"Whatever you say, grandma. Hahaha" Ciel laughed as she mocked Diane once more.

---

"Fill in this form right here. I'll be kindly reminding you that we will still conduct a few tests to verify that you're indeed a New Human." A receptionist on the 3rd floor assisted Xenith on his registration.

As someone who has worked for the association for 3 years, he couldn't care less about Xenith's plain looks. He wasn't interested in him either. He was there to do his work, registering New Humans to the association.

"Proceed to the testing room after submitting the form. It's in the rightmost part of this floor. Fall in line and wait for your turn." The receptionist nonchalantly added. "And, oh… leave your tamed beast behind during evaluation… You don't want it disrupting the results."
